I am trying to create a Parrot Rescue in Oklahoma, where parrots can come and have the life they deserve. What I would do is take in all unwanted parrots, pay cheap prices to get them out of bad situations, and work with animal control for birds that might end up in their system. Basically I would take in Macaws, cockatoos, amazons, quakers , greys, conures , cockatiels, parakeets, parrotlets, and so forth. The larger macaws, cockatoos, amazons and greys would be permanently homed here with our rescue. the smaller parrots will be rehomed to approved homes unless they have special needs, then it would be handled on the individual cases on rather they are rehomed or live out their lives here at the rescue. I have 25 years of experience with parrots and lately have noticed the sudden amount of macaws and other parrots online looking for new homes due to biting, screaming, cursing, time needed for them, job or life changes. these poor birds stress so easily and are no different than a child being rehomed. they stress and show it by plucking all feathers out, biting into their skin, screaming, biting, and so forth because they just lost their only family or are being passed from home to home .
The money i want to raise would be used only for the birds as far as housing,food, vet care, special needs, toys, cages, and so forth. All monies raised through toy sales, bake sales, pictures with the birds and so forth goes right back into the birds to keep them happy, help them heal, and above all give them the best quality of life possible till they pass. We are retired and able to spend 24/7 with our birds.We have rescues now and are in process of trying to get a 501c3 non-profit license so we can accept larger donations that people can have as tax wrightoffs while helping a cause that goes unseen to often.We also accept donations of cages, food, chainlink for outdoor cages,and wood to build toys with.
